At Jersey Language Adventure, we believe that how you learn is just as important as what you learn. One of the key ways we support our students is through small group teaching—just five students per teacher. This approach creates an environment where every learner has the time, space, and confidence to truly develop their speaking skills.
More Talk Time, Faster Progress
In many traditional classroom settings, students spend a lot of time listening and very little time actually speaking. With larger groups, it’s easy to sit back, stay quiet, and let others take the lead. But language learning isn’t a passive activity—you improve by using the language.
That’s why our small group model works so well. With only five students per teacher, each learner gets significantly more opportunities to speak during every session. Whether it’s answering questions, participating in discussions, or practicing real-life conversations, students are actively using the language throughout the lesson.

Building Confidence Through Practice
Speaking a new language can feel intimidating at first. Many learners worry about making mistakes or sounding unsure. In a smaller group, the atmosphere becomes more relaxed and supportive, making it easier to take those first steps.
Because students are speaking more often, they quickly become more comfortable expressing themselves. Over time, this consistent practice leads to noticeable improvements—not just in accuracy, but in confidence. Students who may have been hesitant at the start often find themselves speaking more naturally and willingly.

More Personalised Attention
Another major advantage of small groups is the level of individual attention each student receives. Teachers can better understand each learner’s strengths, challenges, and goals. This allows for more targeted feedback and support, helping students progress more efficiently.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, lessons can adapt to the group’s needs, ensuring that everyone stays engaged and continues improving.
A Supportive Learning Environment
Small groups also help build a sense of community. Students get to know each other, feel more comfortable participating, and often encourage one another along the way. This positive environment plays a huge role in boosting motivation and reducing the fear of speaking.
Real Results You Can See
The results at Jersey Language Adventure speak for themselves. Our students consistently show strong improvements in their speaking ability and, just as importantly, their confidence. By maximising talk time and creating a supportive, interactive space, small group learning helps turn passive learners into active speakers.
