A Typical Week at Jersey Language Adventure – English Summer Camp in Jersey

English, Adventure, and Island Life

Sunday – Arrival and Welcome

Sunday is arrival day and the start of the adventure.

Some students arrive by ferry from St Malo using our JLA chaperone service, while others arrive by plane from different destinations. A member of the JLA team personally meets every student at the harbour or airport.

After pick-up we head back to the JLA Adventure Camp. Students staying with host families are dropped off with their families for dinner.

At Jersey Language Adventure we have two private minibuses, driven by Dave and Lady, which we use to transport students throughout the week.

At camp, students are shown their tents (usually two or three students per tent). We then gather together for a short welcome meeting where everyone introduces themselves and we explain how the week will work.

Students have time to unpack, explore the camp and relax before dinner. In the evening we usually cook and eat together before finishing the day with a campfire, games, or conversation.

Monday – English Lessons and Adventure Activities

After a good night’s sleep, breakfast is served between 8:00 and 8:45. At 9:15 we leave camp and drive to school.

Students then enjoy three hours of English lessons in small groups with a maximum of five students per teacher. This allows every student to participate actively and make real progress in their English.

Lunch is at 12:45, usually enjoyed together in the school gardens when the weather is good.

In the afternoon the adventure begins.

Students take part in one of our outdoor adventure activities, which may include:

  • Surfing
  • Climbing
  • Coasteering
  • Kayaking
  • Abseiling
  • Stand-up paddle boarding

You can see our full list of activities here:

Because our programme is small and personal, we can stay flexible and choose the activity that best suits the weather and sea conditions on the day.

Evenings at Camp

After the afternoon activity we usually return to camp.

Sometimes we stop to do the food shopping together – which often turns into a fun group activity with students helping us choose the ingredients!

Back at camp students can relax, swim in the pool, take showers, or help prepare dinner. Meals are often eaten outside and we frequently organise BBQs.

Dinner is relaxed and social, and we always encourage students to speak English together.

In the evening we might:

  • play games
  • chat around the campfire
  • toast marshmallows
  • bake bread over the fire
  • or enjoy a campfire sing-along

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

The structure of the day is similar to Monday, with English lessons in the morning and adventure activities in the afternoon.

Each day features a different activity, ensuring students experience as much of Jersey as possible.

Thursday evenings are often spent at the beach enjoying a BBQ and watching the sunset.

On Friday we sometimes finish the week with traditional fish and chips by the sea, often combined with volleyball or beach games.

Wednesday – Free Afternoon in St Helier

Wednesday is slightly different.

After English lessons in the morning, students enjoy a free afternoon in St Helier, Jersey’s capital.

Students may choose to:

  • go souvenir shopping
  • visit the cinema
  • go swimming or bowling
  • relax in town with friends
  • visit the famous Durrell Wildlife Park
  • or go to the beach!

Students take the public bus back to camp where we meet them for dinner.

Jersey is a safe and welcoming island, making it an excellent place for students to experience a little independence while studying abroad. Younger students can receive extra supervision and transport if needed.

Saturday – Departure Day

On Saturday morning we take students returning to France to the harbour, where they travel back to St Malo with our chaperone service. Parents simply meet us in the arrivals hall.

Students leaving by plane are dropped at the airport.

Students staying for two weeks remain with us over the weekend. We organise additional activities, but they also have time to relax and enjoy the island together.

Why Students Love Jersey Language Adventure

Our programme is active, friendly, and full of memorable experiences.

Students improve their English naturally through:

  • small classes
  • daily conversations
  • teamwork during activities
  • relaxed evenings at camp

Because our groups are small, we can give every student personal attention and support.

No one is left out and no one is left behind.
We start the week together and finish as a team.

We hope this gives you a better idea of what daily life is like at Jersey Language Adventure.

If you have any questions, please visit our FAQs or contact us directly.

We look forward to welcoming your children soon.
