English Beyond the Classroom

At JLA, learning English is about much more than textbooks and grammar exercises. Our small-group lessons combine fun classroom activities and games with plenty of opportunities to speak, interact and build confidence.

With a maximum of five students per teacher, everyone gets more opportunities to participate, express themselves and put their English into practice.

Adventure on the Jersey Coastline

Of course, no JLA week would be complete without some adventure!

Our students got out onto the water for surfing and coasteering, experiencing Jersey’s beautiful coastline while taking on new challenges together. Abseiling added another opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, face a challenge and enjoy the satisfaction of giving something new a go.

Life at Camp

Some of the best memories aren’t made during organised activities. They’re made in between — chatting with friends, sharing meals, playing games and enjoying the experience of living together at camp.

These everyday moments are an important part of a JLA stay. Students from different backgrounds get to know one another, practise English naturally and develop friendships that make the week even more special.

A Great Start to the Summer

Week 1 was a wonderful way to kick off our 2026 season, bringing together everything we love about JLA: small-group English learning, outdoor adventure, new experiences and a friendly camp atmosphere.

And this was just the beginning! With nine more weeks of English and adventure ahead, there was plenty more summer fun to come.
