A Healthy, Balanced Camp Menu
JLA students have active days, so we focus on providing meals that are:
- filling and nutritious
- suitable for teenagers
- balanced with carbohydrates, protein, fruit and vegetables
- enjoyable and familiar
We aim for meals that give students the energy they need for activities such as coasteering, surfing and climbing.
Breakfast: Fuel for the Day
Breakfast at JLA is designed to be simple, tasty, and energising.
Students can help themselves and usually expect:
- cereals and porridge
- toast with butter, jams and peanut butter.
- fruit
- eggs
- juice, water and hot chocolate
Lunch: Easy and Practical
Lunch is eaten at school. We have our own kitchen and the ability to prepare hot and cold options. Typical lunch options include:
- sandwiches or wraps
- pasta, chilli, fried rice, grilled cheese and ham toasties
- fruit and vegetables
- plenty of water
Lady always supplements our basic lunch menu with something delicious.
Dinner: The Main Meal of the Day
Dinner is the moment everyone looks forward to! After a full day of learning and adventure, students come together at camp for a warm, satisfying meal.
Dinner meals often include:
- pasta dishes
- rice-based meals
- chicken or meat and vegetarian options are always available
- BBQ evenings
- vegetables and salads
- couscous
- dessert treats
Dinner is also a great social moment where students relax, share stories from the day, and practise their English naturally with new friends.
We often play some games at dinner, sometimes a quiz, sometimes vocabulary competitions and memory recall challenges.
Snacks and Drinks
We always encourage students to stay hydrated, especially during summer.
Students have access to:
- water throughout the day
- occasional snacks depending on the programme
- fruit options
Many students also bring a few snacks from home, which is absolutely fine.
Dietary Requirements & Allergies
At JLA, we take dietary needs seriously.
We can cater for:
- vegetarian diets
- allergies and intolerances
- medical dietary requirements
If your child has any allergies or special dietary needs, we simply ask parents to inform us in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Food as Part of the Camp Experience
Meals at JLA are more than just food — they are part of the overall adventure camp experience. Students eat together, build friendships, and share moments that often become some of their favourite memories of the week.
Our students are encouraged to let us know what they would like to eat. We are happy to try and accommodate personal preferences. We often do the shopping together and are happy for our students to join in with meal preparation.
Final Thoughts
A week at Jersey Language Adventure is busy, exciting, and full of energy — and good meals are essential to keep students happy and ready for the next challenge.
If you have any questions about meals, dietary requirements, or what your child should bring, feel free to contact us. We’re always happy to help!
